Wai Qi Liao Fa 外氣療法

Qi Emission & Medical Nei Gong

Wai Qi Liao Fa is the emission of Qi from the body of the practitioner into the patient. This practice is the coming together of classical Chinese medical principles and internal skill to form one complete, energy-based treatment.

Inner Cultivation

The most important aspect of Wai Qi Liao Fa is the inner cultivation level of the practitioner. Intellectual knowledge and ‘willing’ are not enough on their own; the practitioner must have gone deep into the Nei Gong process in order to cultivate their own Qi and develop a strong reserve of Qi stored within the ‘battery’ of the lower Dan Tian. The channel system must be adequately prepared through practice and the mind regulated through meditative training.

This kind of training can take a number of years to start out with and then a decade or more to truly develop to a high-enough level whereby the practitioners Qi may be mobilised and directed out of their own body (usually via the hands) into the body of another person. This Qi is then used to adjust the Qi of the patient’s body.

As well as developing the inner system, the practitioner must also learn how to process and refine the Qi within their own body so that it may be changed and adapted according to the needs of the treatment. Various forms of Qi may be emitted by the skilled practitioner.

We will include much more information on Way Qi Liao Fa, its uses and the system in general, in the future. Out of all of the modalities taught within Xian Tian College, it is the one that takes the most time to learn simply because of what is involved in its training and so, for this reason, there is no real need to discuss this subject in too much depth right now.

Training to be a Wai Qi Liao Fa therapist requires the following: A high degree of skill in the foundation theory of Chinese medicine, experience with diagnosis and treatment using another technique such as Acupuncture or Tui Na, a deep development of your Nei Gong skill and the ability to store, develop and emit Qi. Only after all of these milestones have been reached will the methods of Wai Qi Liao Fa be taught.
