Your Teacher

Your lessons are taught to you by Damo Mitchell, lifelong practitioner of the Eastern Arts and skilled practitioner and teacher of Chinese medicine.

Damo has taught the Eastern Arts internationally for many years and has developed a reputation for being able to present complex eastern theories in a way that people can clearly understand them without needing to simplify or water down the teachings. Because he ‘lives’ the arts himself, Damo’s mind is fully immersed in what he is teaching.

Damo breaks down each aspect of Chinese medicine and presents it in both its commonly taught manner, according to how it would be presented at Chinese medical colleges, as well as its esoteric and functional aspects. Clinical examples are given and through flipchart drawings and clearly explained points to ensure that students can take in each part of their chosen subject.

Students undertaking the program will also be able to touch-base with the school and ask any questions on our dedicated facebook page. Tutors, Damo Mitchell and Rob Aspell will then answer questions and guide students in their learning.

For both payment plans, one video lesson is released per week, as long as you remember to press the ‘unlock’ button below the lesson. This is to ensure you sufficiently absorb the material taught. Remembering to click the button is the student’s responsibility.

As this is a membership subscription, access to lessons is dependant upon having an active membership.

Both annual and monthly members gain access to all of the lessons, an exclusive Discord community where questions may be asked and feedback given.

What Next?

Professional training

After the 12-month long module is completed, some studnets may wish to end there. They will have gained a thorough understanding of Chinese medical theory and so they can use this to further inform whatever other practice or art they engage with.

For other students, they may wish to then go on study Chinese medicine as a professionally recognised Diploma level practice. These studnets must then go through the following steps:

  1. Students must then pass a test in the theory they have studied
  2. If the test is passed, students may then apply to join one of our Diploma courses
  3. Students will go through an interview (over Zoom) with one of our tutors to check their suitability for further training
  4. Students then access the second online module and join the in-person training in the practical skills of Chinese medicine

Qualifications

The Diploma-level qualifications offered by Xian Tian College are professionally recognised in the UK. This means that UK practitioners are able to be recognised and fully insured practitioners within the UK immediately after completing their training.
Students from other countries should recognise where our qualification is recognised; for example, in the USA, our qualifications will not be recognised. For other countries, students will have to undertake their own research as they may need to carry out a few other steps before they may practice. Be aware that this is far more likely to be a restriction on practice as an Acupuncturist rather than a Tui Na practitioner which should be easier to transfer, as a profession, to another country.
We have previously taught students from other countries. Some of them are from countries where they are able to practice, some are not worried about the legalities as they don’t wish to run a clinic, they are learning for their own interest and some other foreign students are already qualified and are retraining with us so as to update their knowledge.

Online Module 2

For those continuing on into year 2 of Chinese medicine training with us, as well as the practical in-person events, there is also a second year of online lessons. These are online lessons that really go alongside practical training and so the lessons cover more practical, treatment-based aspects of medical practice. These subjects include:

  • In-depth Channel Theory
  • Detailed Point Theory and usage
  • Syndrome Differentiation in detail
  • Pulse Diagnosis
  • Tongue Diagnosis
  • Further Diagnostic Tools
  • Development of Disease
  • Psychological Disease
  • Spiritual Disease
  • Advanced Knowledge of Yin & Yang
  • Esoteric Treatments
  • Treatment Protocols
  • Body and Qi Development
  • Advanced Pathogens
  • Advanced Zang Fu Theory
